NRF Europe Opens Today. Amazon Changed Its Pricing Transparency. 72 Days to Black Friday. The Fee Stack Is About to Hit.
The FBA sweet spot window opened yesterday. If your Q4 inventory isn't shipping right now, you're paying triple in two weeks.
NRF Big Show Europe opened in Paris this morning with 12,000 retail professionals, 525 exhibitors, and a theme that tells you where the industry is headed: "The Next Now." Amazon quietly expanded its Price History feature from 90 days to a full year — which means your pre-event markups and inconsistent pricing are now visible to every shopper. Prime Big Deal Days are confirmed for October 7-8. And the FBA fee stack is about to compound: storage triples October 1, peak fulfillment surcharge adds $0.32/unit on October 15, and the 3.5% fuel surcharge never stopped.
Five things to execute in the next 72 days.

🧠 NRF Big Show Europe Opened Today in Paris. 12,000 Retailers. 60 Countries. Here's What Matters for DTC.
NRF 2026: Retail's Big Show Europe kicked off this morning at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. This is the second edition of the event and it's significantly larger: 12,000 professionals from 60 countries, 4,200 brands, 525 exhibitors, 200 speakers across 100+ sessions, and a first-ever Retail's Big Show Awards. The theme — "The Next Now" — signals that the European retail community has stopped treating AI, cross-border operations, and circular commerce as future concepts. They're operational realities.
What DTC operators should track from Paris this week:
✅ Agentic AI in customer service. Snipes' Head of Digital Joe Shoemaker is presenting on agentic AI. This is the session to follow. AI agents handling customer interactions at scale isn't theoretical — it's live at major retailers and the economics are changing how brands staff support.
✅ Cross-border operations post-de minimis. The EU de minimis exemption ended July 1. Every parcel entering the EU now carries duty. If you sell into Europe, the operational playbook changed two months ago. NRF Europe is where the workarounds and solutions are being shared.
✅ Smart supply chains and circular design. European sustainability regulations are tighter than the US. Brands operating cross-border need to understand the compliance landscape before Q4 cross-border volumes spike.
✅ New business models and IP licensing. Zabka Group's strategy chief is covering licensing and IP models. For DTC brands exploring wholesale, licensing, or platform partnerships, this is strategic.
💡 Even if you're not in Paris: Follow the NRF Europe hashtag and exhibitor announcements. The innovations debuted at European retail events tend to reach US platforms 6-12 months later. What's "The Next Now" in Paris is "this quarter" in New York.

🤖Amazon Just Expanded Price History to 365 Days. Your Pricing Strategy Just Got Transparent.
This one flew under the radar but it matters. Amazon expanded its Price History feature from 90 days to a full 365 days. Every shopper can now see a full year of your product's price, including temporary discounts, pre-event markups, and the everyday price they were measured against. Amazon is pushing sellers toward consistent pricing and honest reference points.
Why this changes your Q4 pricing:
✅ Pre-Black Friday markups are visible. The old playbook of raising prices in October to make November discounts look bigger no longer works. Shoppers see the full year. If your "50% off" is measured against a price that only existed for two weeks, the trust damage is real.
✅ Consistent pricing wins. Amazon's algorithm rewards pricing consistency. The 365-day view means your price signal needs to be clean all year, not just during deal events.
✅ Review your price history NOW. Go to any of your top SKUs. Click the price history chart. See what a shopper sees. If the pattern looks like you inflate before events, fix it before Prime Big Deal Days (October 7-8) and Black Friday.
✅ The 75-character title limit is also live. Amazon moved most US product titles to a 75-character Item Name limit with a separate 125-character Item Highlights field. If you haven't updated your listings, do it this week.
💬 Stat: Amazon no longer provides FBA prep and item-labeling services in the US or Canada. External prep and quality-control are now entirely your responsibility. Factor this into your Q4 ops planning.
💡 Action this week: Audit your top 20 SKUs' price history charts. If any show markups before events, flatten your pricing now. You have 21 days before Prime Big Deal Days.

📦 The FBA Fee Stack: Storage Triples Oct 1. Peak Surcharge Hits Oct 15. Fuel Never Stopped. Here's the Full Math.
This is the part most sellers underestimate. It's not one fee increase — it's three fees stacking on top of each other within two weeks. If you haven't run the math on all three together, your Q4 contribution margin is wrong.
The full stack:
✅ October 1: Storage triples. $0.87 → $2.40 per cubic foot. This is the one we've been tracking. Every unit in FBA on October 1 costs 176% more to store. 15 days away.
✅ October 15: Peak fulfillment surcharge. An additional ~$0.32 per unit on every order shipped from October 15 through January 14. This stacks on top of normal FBA fulfillment fees. 29 days away.
✅ Ongoing: 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge. This never went away. It applies on top of both storage and fulfillment fees. It's easy to forget because it's been running all year.
Your action plan:
✅ Re-run contribution margin for every Q4 SKU with all three fees stacked. The product that was profitable at $0.87 storage + normal fulfillment might go negative at $2.40 + $0.32/unit + 3.5%.
✅ The FBA sweet spot window is NOW (September 15-28). Inventory arriving this window gets September storage rates. Anything arriving October 1 or later pays Q4 rates immediately.
✅ Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) users get extended off-peak storage pricing through October 31 with automatic FBA replenishment. If you're not on AWD, this is the strongest incentive Amazon has offered.
💡 Pro Tip: Amazon said sellers using AWD during Q4 2025 saw improved inventory placement and faster replenishment. The tradeoff: you're pulling inventory deeper into Amazon's logistics network. But the cost savings during peak season are measurable.

📈 Prime Big Deal Days: October 7-8. BFCM Deals Close October 20. Here's the Full Submission Timeline.
The holiday deal calendar is now confirmed. If you're selling on Amazon, these are the dates that determine your Q4 deal visibility. Miss a deadline and your products sit in the catalog without promotional placement while competitors get the spotlight.
The confirmed timeline:
✅ Prime Big Deal Days: October 7-8. Amazon's fall Prime member event. The first real push into holiday shopping. Deal submissions closed September 8 — if you missed it, your next window is BFCM.
✅ Black Friday / Cyber Monday deal submissions close: October 20. This is the deadline for Lightning Deals, Best Deals, and other promotional placements for the November 27-30 window. Submit this week. Don't wait.
✅ Holiday FBA inbound cutoffs: Mid-to-late October for Black Friday inventory. Mid-November for Christmas inventory. Amazon confirms exact dates in Seller Central — check yours today.
✅ Peak fulfillment fees begin: October 15. Every order shipped from this date through January 14 carries the ~$0.32/unit surcharge.
What this means for your calendar:
✅ September 16-30: Ship FBA inventory. Submit BFCM deal applications. Finalize Q4 ad creative.
✅ October 1-14: Storage rates live. Confirm deal approvals. Launch October promotions (Shopify multiphase, Shop App Deals Feed).
✅ October 15-November 10: Peak fees live. China truce deadline. Run Prime Big Deal Days recap. Adjust bids.
✅ November 11-30: Execution mode. Black Friday. Cyber Monday. Daily bid and budget management.
💬 Stat: "Q4 is a logistics deadline problem in September, a creative problem in October, and an ad management problem in November. Sellers who treat it as one big November problem lose all three." — SellTru

"Applied for BFCM Lightning Deals on September 10. Last year I applied October 18 and half got rejected. Two days before the deadline isn't a strategy."
